Baidoa,(insidesomalia.org)-Armed men hurled grenade at one of the sumptuous hotels in Baidoa town 250km south of the Somali capital Mogadishu, and for a brief time the telecommunications in the town were out of air.
Five (5) people were reported wounded in the blast at the hotel; most of the hotel dwellers were Somali parliamentarians.
The wounded mostly civilians were taken to Baidoa general hospital, three of the wounded are reported critical, and the other two are reported fine.
Eyewitness told somaliweyn radio that by the time of the blast a police van in tour of duty was passing near the hotel.
It is not clear whether the target of the armed men was the hotel where some Somali parliamentarians or the police van passing by.
The fire opened by the Somali government police after the blast could be heard almost in the entire Baidoa town.
The telecommunication system of Baidoa town is back active today after it was off air since yesterday evening.
The provincial commissioner of Baidoa town Mr. Abdifatah Mohamed Ibrahim Gesey was said to be behind the shutting down of the telecommunication companies in the town.
When the regional commissioner of Baidoa Gesey was asked why he has closed down the telecommunication companies he answered in short they are not cooperative.
It is not the first time an explosion to happen in Baidoa town, there had been several other blasts earlier that had claimed the lives of several other government officials.
